Retinal Imaging

Ideally, everyone with diabetes will see an eye-care professional for an exam every year.  The reality is that not everyone does.  We have invested in equipment to allow us to take images of a patient’s retinas and electronically send the images to an ophthalmologist for review.  We get a report back from the ophthalmologist within 1-2 business days, and we find that 20-25% of the images we send him come back with a report of pathology that we otherwise would not know about.  Early detection of diabetes-related eye disease is critical to helping to preserve vision and we are pleased to be able to offer this service to help identify those who really need to see an ophthalmologist sooner rather than later.
